surprise getaway

Just over five years ago, I made the best decision of my life. I married this guy...
I am so incredibly blessed to call Adam my husband. There are so many things I love about him...

I love that he's caring.
I love that he's patient.
I love that he's tough.
I love that he's God fearing.

But one of the things I love most is his thoughtfulness. He makes me feel so incredibly special. We've been together for almost nine years but yet he still makes me feel worth pursuing. This weekend was no exception.
Last Friday morning, Adam and I made plans to meet for a drink after work and then finish some last minute dinner shopping at Whole Foods (across the street from my office). That morning I was heading out the door when Adam said he'd drive me to work so that we didn't have two cars when we met up later that day. I didn't think much of it.

Fast forward seven hours and Adam and I were sitting at Baker Street enjoying the beautiful weather. I was making a mental list of what we needed from Whole Foods when I asked Adam what side we should make to compliment our dinner. With a goofy grin, he replied...

"About that...there's been a slight change in plans."

I was then told that we'd be heading downtown to check into the Grand Hyatt - WHAT?! We jumped in the car (where a suitcase was already packed and waiting). Once checked in to our SUITE (that's right!), Adam revealed two more surprises...

He had booked a brewery package that allowed us to "have a pint on the house" while exploring new brews from some of downtown Denver's best micro-breweries. And, he had gotten tickets to a Rockies game, which included an amazing firework show at the end of the game.

So with that, our evening started with burgers and brews at Wynncoop Brewery. It was here that I may have found my new favorite beer...
From there, we headed to the Rockies game. Rough night for the Rockies but that didn't stop us from having a great time!
After the game, we walked to the Denver Chop House where we grab one last beer. We talked and laughed about old memories while enjoying the opportunity to just simply be together. I never get tired of times like these.
At that point, we decided our last stop should include sweets. So...we headed toward the 16th Street Mall and actually settled on the Cheesecake Factory for dessert. I seriously can't remember the last we've been to the Cheesecake Factory so would you like to know what they've invented since my last visit?
Wish you could have seen my face when the waiter brought this bad boy out.
Yep, that's an Oreo cheesecake. Now, chocolate chip cookies have always been a long time dessert fav. But as of recently, Oreo cookies have made a push for the top spot. I mean, it is Milk's Favorite Cookie so who am I to argue?

After gorging ourselves on (what felt like) endless sweets, we headed back to the Hyatt where we quickly crashed from our evening full of events.

The next morning we woke up and hit one of Denver's treasures...the Denver Diner. Oh my goodness. There are few breakfast joints that compare to this. Biscuits and gravy, hash browns, buttermilk pancakes, french toast, steak and eggs, omelets and breakfast burritos. It always takes me forever to figure out what I should order...but I'm never disappointed.
This particular Saturday was a pancake day though. Before we even pulled into the diner parking lot, I had a stack of buttermilk pancakes on the brain.  Sadly, I didn't take a picture. But, should you ever visit us, we'll take you!

Talk about a surprise weekend. It was our own little Denver getaway and it couldn't have been more perfect.
Thanks, Love, for always making me feel so special. I love you!
